In February of 1997, two years after opening their coffeebar on Broadway Street in Lakeview, Doug Zell and Emily Mange moved the 12-kilo Probat roaster from their cafe to a 4000 square-foot warehouse in the nearby Bucktown neighborhood. And after four busy years, the story repeated itself. The space had become entirely too cramped, and in October of 2001, they packed up everything and moved a few miles south to a 25,000 square foot warehouse located at 1850 West Fulton Street.
