BROADWAY - BROADWAY BARISTA OF THE MONTH

Shane Duke is the Broadway Café Barista of the Month for January/February 2008.  Shane is a shift-lead at Broadway and has worked for Intelligentsia for just over one year.

Shane was introduced to coffee in high school when he worked at a coffee shop down state that used Intelligentsia.  “I was always impressed with the quality of the beans we received there, and when I moved to Chicago I decided to apply to Intelligentsia with the hope of learning more about the coffee.”  Shane’s favorite drink to make is a simple 12 ounce latte.  “It is a constant joy and challenge to try to pour the perfect rosetta.”

In his spare time, Shane loves to camp and go back packing, although being trapped in a large metropolitan area can make that difficult.  He spends much of his time reading, drawing/working on projects, and playing games; board games, video games, sports, etc.

On being a Barista, Shane enjoys the social part the most.  “I love the social aspects of this job.  Everyone that works here and comes in here everyday, they are all wonderful people.”
