MILLENNIUM PARK - MILLENNIUM PARK BARISTA OF THE MONTH
The Millennium Park Barista of the Month for March/April 2008 is Kris Fedor.
The Millennium Park Barista of the Month for March/April 2008 is Kris Fedor. Kris has been with Intelligentsia for about two years, since the opening of the Millennium Park Café. “Most regulars don’t know this since I only work two days a week, but I am one of the original Millennium Park staff.”
In the late 90’s as a creative writing major, he was a total coffeehouse fly with his cloves, discman/headphones, and journal. In 2005 he visited Chicago from Denver to look for an apartment and happened to stumble into the Broadway Intelligentsia Café with some friends. The music made them stick around but by the time they left, Kris was hooked. Shortly after moving to Chicago, Kris was hired for the soon to be opened Mill Park Café. It should be noted though, Kris is half Colombian and as his mom would say, “coffee is in your blood.”
Kris’s favorite drink to make is also his favorite to enjoy. “I adore the small vanilla soy latte. Our espresso drinks are amazing without additives, but I have a bit of a sweet tooth. And I appreciate a good rosetta on a soy latte more than one normally should.”
Aside from working at the café, Kris works fulltime at a luxury and lifestyle PR firm in River North as an Office Manager. Any spare time he can get, he indulges in his ‘sort of’ YouTube addiction, reads fiction, watches TV on DVD, entertains his three legged cat Midnight and occasionally knits a scarf. “I’m a sucker for bar conversation too. A good conversation should always be accompanied by Shiraz or Saison Dupont.”
Since becoming a Barista Kris is amazed how coffee has become a part of his lifestyle element. “Whenever I go on vacation now, I have to check to see where the best coffeehouses are in that city and check them out….especially if they serve Intelligentsia coffee.” |
