Much like the rooster, our El Gallo Organic Breakfast Blend is crafted to be the wake up call in your morning routine. It’s also an organic counterpart to our House Blend, in that it reflects the qualities we cherish in delicious coffees from longstanding partnerships in Latin America.
Organic coffees are inherently more difficult to produce, and when they succeed it is undeniably the result of a truly dedicated farmer, whose focus is on the quality of the land, the trees, and the final product. The choice to produce organic Arabica coffee means that, on average, the farm will produce less than one using conventional fertilizers and pesticides. There is also a multiple-year transition period, during which the farm must produce coffee organically, but sell it without a certification.
Comprised of different seasonal coffees, El Gallo is carefully blended and regularly tested for quality. While the composition may change from time to time, the blend retains its inherent character not only because of methodical quality monitoring, but also as a result of the strident selection process we use to buy all of our coffees. Intensive lot selection, expedient shipping logistics, and a complete feedback loop ensure not only high quality coffee but also longevity to our relationships.
Throughout Latin America, the best coffee farms are frequently planted with the Arabica variety Bourbon, and Bourbon hybrid cultivar coffee trees. These varieties are revered for their high quality, and when careful crop husbandry meets good environmental factors like nutrient-rich soil composition, sufficient elevation, and appropriate amounts of rainfall and sunlight, the flavors are unique and exciting.
El Gallo demonstrates the softer spectrum of these Latin American coffees, rounder in mouthfeel with a smooth, candied sweetness. Flavors of citrus and stone fruits meet hints of creamy nougat and caramel, making a thoroughly enjoyable first cup of the day.
