Wavelengths, radio signals, Hertz, phase velocity, light and sound: frequency is the measure of repetition, the rate of return to normalcy. In your morning ritual, there is a frequency to the whir of the spinning grinder’s teeth as they meet the beans, and in the slow drip from the filter that causes ripples in the pool of brewing coffee below. In our pursuit of excellent coffees, too, there is a frequency of the cycle of harvests, in the machines that mill the beans, and in the revolutions of the cast iron roasting drums.
Frequency Blend is our attempt to capture these ideas in an easy-to-enjoy cup. It’s a harmonious composition of pulped-natural Brazilian coffee and fully washed coffee that changes seasonally depending on what is fresh and tasting great.
Brazil is known for being the world’s leading exporter of coffee, and we’ve spent years developing relationships with growers who are able to consistently produce the high caliber quality we expect. Coffee cherries harvested from family-owned and operated farms are de-pulped (the flesh of the fruit is stripped away from the seed) and dried on patios in the sun and then gently turned in temperature-regulated mechanical driers before processing for export. The current seasonal complement to Frequency’s Brazilian base is from El Salvador, where coffees are fermented and washed after de-pulping. The washed El Salvador in the current iteration of Frequency comes from a grower who is an old friend: we have been sourcing coffee from him for nearly 15 years.
Frequency Blend’s flavor profile is simple, yet refined: the Brazil component contributes a smooth body and predominant note of milk chocolate, with the washed El Salvador adding an accents of citrus and breakfast tea. It’s what we refer to as a “chuggable” coffee: a well-balanced blend that’s enjoyable on its own, or with a little added milk if that’s your preference. Either way, we hope it becomes a staple in your morning routine.
